Jan. 15, 2017: The Solemn feast of Infant Jesus, Alangar was celebrated with great gusto. Most Rev Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, the bishop of Mangalore, presided over the festive mass.
The feast this year witnessed thousands of devotees.
‘To build communities of love through service’ was the theme of the feast. Love and service of humanity goes hand in hand with our worship to God said Father Walter D’Mello, Associate Judicial Vicar of Mangalore, in his Homily. He also exhorted us to build communities of love, through our service which is the only question God will ask us on the judgement day – when I was hungry you gave me to eat, when I was thirsty you gave me to drink.
Post Eucharistic celebration a meal was arranged for all the devotees.
To entertain us this year a Tulu drama – Pokkade paniyera balli was staged after the festive dinner.
The mass was preceded by honouring our Bishop on his triple Jubilee. Rev Fr Paul Sequeira, Dean Moodbidri Deanery, Mr Abhaychandra Jain, MLA Mulki – Moodbidri constituency, Mr Amarnath Shetty Ex – MLA, Mrs. Harinakshi Suvarna, President Moodbidri Munipality, Mr P K Thomas, Municipality member, Mr Valerian Sequeira Block Congress President, Moodbidri, Shri Shri Shri Ishwar Bhat, priests of the diocese and religious, Various Councillors of the Municipality were present at the felicitation program. Father Basil Vas the parish priest and the Director of the Shrine thanked everyone for their support.
