This year St Thomas Higher Primary school Alangar celebrates its centenary year.

Centenary celebrations are planned on 21st December 2021. To motivate the old students of the school and plan the centenary celebrations and projects, a friendly get together of alumni was organised at Alangar school hall on 07th November 2021.

More than 100 alumni leaders shining in different fields participated and got motivated. Fr Francis Rodrigues, an old student of the school lighted the lamp and inaugurated the get together. He said, “for me this school is a home away from home” and called upon everyone to be the thankful givers to this centenary in whatever way possible.

Mr Muniraj Renjal, a reputed teacher and speaker gave an inspirational talk. In his speech, he recalled the hardships of starting a school 100 years ago. He lauded the contribution of Christian community to the education of the poorest of the poor and opined School as a temple of all religions.

He further said, "Centenary celebrations are a way to express our gratitude to the founder and all those who have nurtured this school. We 100 people here are a great force to make this event a memorable one. Let's put hands together. Let's be grateful by actively participating in the preparation and celebration. We are blessed ones to witness this and be part of the history of this noble school".

Mr P K Thomas presented the plans, projects and the mode of celebrations.

Projects : Roof renovation of Centenary memorial stage, Centenary honorary to teachers and poor students fund for higher education. Basics needs like students’ fund and Children’s play park.

Correspondent Fr Walter Dsouza in his presidential speech requested to render leadership services for centenary celebrations according to one's capacity, to identify donors, to identify the achievers in different fields in order to honour them, to distribute invitation to all old students and offer suggestions to the success of the centenary.

Mr Norbert Rodrigues, an old student and presently Principal of Govt high school , Kokrady moderated the discussion.

Many gave their valuable suggestions and promised all kinds of support. Sr Helen Goveas, HM of the school welcomed and Sr Sylvia Dsa, HM of English medium school proposed vote of thanks.

Mr Santhosh Rodrigues compered the programme and the get together concluded with a delicious meal.

All had a very lovely time meeting the colleagues and recalling the past memories.
