A gathering to share the Joy of Christ being born as a savior to us was held on the 20th of December 2015 at Holy Rosary Church Alangar, in association with Rotary Club Moodbidri and Lions Club, Alangar. ‘Love one another as you love yourself’ echoed in the thoughts of our speakers. Rev Fr Clifford Fernandes, Professor at St Joseph Inter-Diocesan Seminary, Mangalore and Secretary of interreligious dialogue of the Diocese of Mangalore, Shree Shree Shree Esha Vitaladas Swamiji of the Sandeepana Sadhanashrama, Kemar, and Mr. Y. Mohammed Bari, Correspondent of Ideal English medium school and Chairman of Maroof Education Trust Yedapadavu where the speakers.
The crux of their thoughtful speeches was to spread love. Religion should help to purify ones inner self, else it causes more harm than good. It should transform us to become more humans who love and live peaceful lives. Moreover they stressed on the need of taking care of the marginalized and downtrodden of the society. Nishkama karma (work without any desire for reward), Dhana Dharma (Zakat – sacrifice, charity) and language of Love instead of revenge (show you left cheek when someone slaps you on the right), are ways we build a peaceful society.
Rev Fr Basil Vas, Parish Priest, Holy Rosary Church Alangar, presided over the gathering. Mr Abhaychandra Jain, MLA Moodbidri, inaugurated the gathering. Rev Sudhir Kumar, Pastor, CSI Church, Mr Lal Goyal, Pandit Resorts, Rtn P. K. Thomas, President Rotary Club Moodbidri, Ln Manohar Cutinho, Lions Club Alangar, Ln Jerald Lobo, Vice-President, Parish Pastoral Council, Alangar, Fr Kenneth Crasta, Asst. Parish Priest were there at the gathering. The presence of Religious Sisters and Priests, Leaders from other communities, Rotary and Lions Club Members, our Parishioners and our brother and sisters of different faiths enhanced the gathering.
